Robert F. Boyle, Hitchcock’s art director for ‘North by Northwest,’ dies at 100

Robert F. Boyle, a longtime Hollywood production designer who received four Academy Award nominations for his art direction on the films “North by Northwest,” “Gaily, Gaily,” “The Shootist” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” has died. He was 100.
Boyle, who received an honorary Oscar in 2008, died Sunday of natural causes at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the Art Directors Guild announced.
Besides ‘North by Northwest,’ Boyle worked with director Alfred Hitchcock on ‘The Birds,’ ‘Marnie,’ ‘Saboteur’ and ‘Shadow of a Doubt.’
