The Internet is becoming a powerful tool for local bricks-and-mortar boutiques to sell Los Angeles style around the world.

Elyse Walker, whose eponymous boutique is the go-to for designer fashion in the Pacific Palisades, is the latest local retailer to jump into the e-commerce game with Forward by Elyse Walker. The site, launched last month, is a one-stop Web address for clothing and accessories from the world’s top designers (Lanvin, Givenchy, Fendi), curated with an edgy, L.A. point of view.

Now, women everywhere can find a floaty Stella McCartney maxi-dress, an Alexander McQueen leather mini-dress, Pierre Hardy color-block wedges and a Proenza Schouler canvas PS1 bag to take them from the beach to a museum benefit, all delivered straight to their doorstep.

‘The future of retail is online,’ says Walker, who is positioning the site as an edgier answer to Net-a-porter.com.

Her partner on the project is Cerritos-based Eminent Inc., owners of RevolveClothing.com. Forward by Elyse Walker can also be accessed through RevolveClothing.com, which focuses on selling less expensive contemporary and denim brands.

Walker’s site also includes a magazine component. The first edition of the online EW magazine is titled ‘The Color Issue,’ with a fashion spread shot poolside, and trend pieces about leather leggings and gilded accessories.
