A Long Beach middle school was locked down Monday morning after a report of a man with a gun on or around campus, authorities said.
Bancroft Middle School, 5301 Centralia St., was locked down about 11:30 a.m., according to a bulletin posted on the school’s website.
‘We followed our safety procedures, and with the help of police and school safety we conducted a thorough search of the campus but have found no such unauthorized person on campus,’ the alert said.
The message, posted at 12:40 p.m., said the campus remained on lock down as police searched the neighborhood. Long Beach police said officers were taking every precaution.
