Mötley Crüe, Public Enemy, Matt & Kim, Bush to headline Sunset Strip Music Festival

Mötley Crüe will celebrate its 30th anniversary by headlining the three-day festival that has created a ‘renaissance’ for the legendary strip and shuts part of Sunset Boulevard.
Mötley Crüe, Public Enemy, Matt & Kim, a reunited Bush and Cobra Starship are a few of the headliners expected to shut down the Sunset Strip for a weekend in August for this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival.
As in previous years, the three-day rock ‘n’ roll and hip-hop celebration will take over just about every major West Hollywood venue and spills outside for the concluding street party.
The Sunset Strip Business Assn., which organizes the festival along with participating club venues, announced the lineup Wednesday. This fourth installment of the festival will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 18, when Mötley Crüe will be fêted at the House of Blues as the band celebrates its 30th anniversary, and will continue in the clubs on Friday, Aug. 19. On the final day of the festival, Saturday, Aug. 20, the outdoor street festival will again shut down a swath of Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard. Expect a number of outdoor stages, beer gardens, a VIP lounge, food trucks, bands in all the clubs, and thousands of music fans.
The outdoor stages will house Mötley Crüe, Matt & Kim, Public Enemy, Bush and Cobra Starship, along with the Dirty Heads, Escape the Fate and She Wants Revenge. A handful of clubs on the strip including Key Club, the Roxy, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go will each host dozens of artists during the weekend.
Nic Adler, owner of the Roxy, said the festival reinvigorated the strip at a time when it was crucial.
“It’s really meant a lot. [The festival has] kind of been a renaissance of the strip. The venues now have better relationships with each other,” he said. “We’ve been able to start working together again. What it does for the businesses and the hotels on the strip is remind them that the strip, in its DNA, is music. It has really grown. None of us realized it was going to become an important time in L.A.”
According to organizers, last year’s festival drew 30,000 people to the strip during the three days, with 13,000 attendees at the Sunday street festival.
Tickets are currently on sale through TicketWeb. Admission to the street festival ranges from $55 general admission to a $250 three-day package, with a VIP entry in the middle at $120. Check out the lineup (more artists are expected to be added) below:
