A few weeks ago, Alemany RB Antonio Bray didn’t set his alarm clock and missed Saturday morning film class. The punishment: Coach Dean Herrington kept him on the sidelines in the Warriors’ critical Mission League showdown with St. Paul.

It was a gut-wrenching decision for both player and coach, but Bray has redeemed himself since then.

Last week, the sophomore speedster scored on a two-point conversion run with just over a minute left to propel Alemany into the postseason for the first time in eight years.

On Friday, he scored the go-ahead TD on a 69-yard run in the Warriors’ 17-14 comeback triumph over West Torrance in the first round of the Western Division playoffs.

Bray finished with 105 yards in four carries even though he’s been at war with a flu bug lately, according to the Daily News. The Canyon transfer also had a 57-yard catch.

Not a bad night’s haul for a guy who’s had an up and down kind of year. Of course, the “up” part seems to have kicked in at just the right time. And hopefully it can last another week – Alemany plays at second-seeded Dominguez next week, which will be the toughest foe the Warriors have faced since Crespi in Week 5.
