As the final seconds of Chatsworth’s 66-40 City semifinal playoff victory over Taft ticked off, I looked around the Chancellor’s gym for basketball championship banners.
“We don’t have any City banners,” Coach Michelle Chevalier said, before quickly adding “yet.”
By defeating the fifth seed and defending champion Toreadors for the third time this season, the top seed Chancellors sent a message to whoever they face next week at the Sports Arena.
“It doesn’t matter who we play,” said Chevalier, when asked if Chatsworth wanted Narbonne or Washington.
“We’re excited to be there. This is what we’ve worked hard for all season. We expected to be there. It was never a cockiness but a confidence; we know what this team is capable of doing.”
