Romantics tend to embrace the unpredictability of destiny. Athletes and coaches do their darnedest to control it. ‘I’m happy we control our own destiny,’ Peninsula Coach Tim Hall said after a 3-1 Bay League victory over West Torrance on Wednesday.
Peninsula, which moved into a tie for first place with Redondo, has to control destiny for two more games. First, the Panthers (12-9, 6-1) play Palos Verdes tomorrow/Friday, then battle the Sea Hawks (11-11, 6-1) in their league finale on Wednesday.
Here’s some advice for the Panthers: The more you try to control something, the more it controls you. Man, I’m sounding more and more like Dr. Phil.
