Workers Hijack Ferry in Spanish Port Protest

Vigo, Spain — About 400 shipyard workers hijacked a river ferry Tuesday to protest job cuts in this northern Spanish port but were forced to surrender the vessel by a Spanish navy destroyer and two patrol boats, officials said.
The destroyer had to uncover its guns to persuade the workers to return the craft after they forced its skipper to take it to the middle of the Vigo River, witnesses said.
