A possible arson fire destroyed a 40-year-old, two-story wooden building that housed the Naval and Air Force ROTC programs on the University of California, Berkeley, campus, officials said. The three-alarm blaze destroyed Callaghan Hall, a classroom and office building on the southwest corner of the campus, university spokesman Ray Colvig said. The building housed the departments of Naval Science and Aerospace Studies. The Army ROTC program is located in another building on the campus. Assistant Vice Chancellor Thomas Nycum estimated that it would cost $2 million to replace the building.
