Sherbeck Takes Over Titan Tennis Team

Eric Sherbeck, a player on the professional tennis Grand Prix circuit for five years, has been appointed men’s tennis coach at Cal State Fullerton by acting athletic director Leanne Grotke.

Sherbeck, 26, assumes the job immediately with today’s home match against Canada College. He replaces Buff Bogard, who was dismissed last week during his first season at Fullerton.

Sherbeck, a former El Dorado High School tennis star, has taught tennis for 10 years, conducting clinics and workshops. His biggest victory as a professional player was the Grand Prix Doubles Championship at Adelaide, Australia in 1983.

He was team captain and No. 1 singles player at Arizona State University, where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in business administration. He was drafted by the Phoenix Racquets of World Team Tennis in 1978. Sherbeck’s father, Hal, is the football coach and athletic director at Fullerton College.
