Sudan Wants Better Soviet Ties

KHARTOUM, Sudan — Sudan’s military ruler today said the new government wants to improve relations with the Soviet Union, Libya and Ethiopia and called for revision of the country’s strict Islamic law.
Gen. Abdul-Rahman Suwar Dahab told a news conference that he has had high-level contacts with Soviet officials aimed at improving bilateral relations. “We would like to correct certain relations with countries that the past regime allowed to deteriorate . . . ,” Dahab said. “By this, we mean the U.S.S.R., Libya and Ethiopia.”
