2 Southland Students Win Scholarships

Jeffrey J. Nicholson of Temple City and Mark P. Thunder of El Cajon were among 80 college students from throughout the country to receive scholarships from Associated General Contractors of America’s Educational and Research Foundation.
Nicholson, who attends Cal State Long Beach, and Thunder, a student at San Diego State University, each received $1,500-a-year awards. They were among five Californians honored this year. The other three are from the northern part of the state.
The foundation’s scholarship commitments now total more than $1.2 million to 480 students since the programs were started in 1970.
