Southern Section : Badminton : Buena Park Wins, 15-4

Tony Fam and Matt Mallars each won two singles matches and one mixed doubles match to lead Buena Park High School to a 15-4 win over Fountain Valley in a quarterfinal match of the Southern Section 4-A Co-Ed Badminton playoffs Tuesday at Fountain Valley.
Fountain Valley earned its four wins by sweeping girls’ singles play. Buena Park, the No. 2 seed in the 4-A division, is 17-0.
In other 4-A action:
Estancia 14, Sunny Hills 5--The top-seeded Eagles extended their winning streak to 17 matches and advanced to the semifinals with the victory at Estancia. The Eagles are 52-1 during the last three seasons. Their only loss was to Marina in the 1984 4-A championship. Tommy Johan and Minh Hieu Kieu teammed to score a key boys’ doubles win for Estancia.
In 3-A action:
Keppel 13, Katella 6--The fourth-seeded Knights were upset at Alhambra.
