Two burglary suspects arrested Wednesday by Escondido police are believed to be connected to a series of restaurant burglaries in the area.
Police arrived at the Dragon Gate Restaurant on East Washington Avenue at 1:43 a.m. and heard voices inside. While police were surrounding the building, two men ran out the restaurant’s front door. One man escaped after a lengthy foot chase through the backyards of several adjacent houses. A third suspect was arrested on the restaurant’s roof.
Police arrested Jorge Javier Vanegas, 22, and Avila Ortega Martin, 19. The men are both undocumented aliens, police said.
