Cagney OK After Surgery on Leg

NEW YORK — Film star James Cagney is recovering at his upstate farm following an operation three weeks ago to remove an infected growth from his leg, according to a published report.
Surgery on the veteran tough guy was performed March 20 in an undisclosed upstate hospital, the Daily News reported. A sore which wouldn’t heal because of the 85-year-old actor’s diabetes became infected, making the operation necessary, Cagney’s manager, Marge Zimmerman, told the newspaper.
