Zenith made an offer for Cal-Farm Insurance.

Encino-based Zenith Insurance, a workers-compensation carrier, joined Nationwide Mutual Insurance in the bidding for troubled Cal-Farm which was placed in state conservatorship March 29. Zenith said it offered to take over related Cal-Farm Life Insurance as well as the insurers’ headquarters in Sacramento. Los Angeles-based Fremont Indemnity is also expected to make an offer, said Cal-Farm executive Carl Santillo. A superior court hearing on the offers is set for Tuesday in Sacramento.
