The City Council awarded a $44,000 contract to Rothenberg Sawasy Architects as first prize in a competition to design a gate to the city.
The winning architectural design is for a structure to welcome visitors to the city and will be built on the Hawthorne Boulevard median strip at Rosecrans Avenue, at Lawndale’s northern border. City officials hope to have the structure completed by the end of September.
