The Public Corp. for the Arts is accepting applications through Friday from local performing and visual arts groups for $54,000 in grants from the City Council.
The city money was earmarked to encourage the work of local cultural organizations and to aid groups that have not received city money for operating costs or specific projects in the past, said Lindsay Shields, PCA executive director.
Applying groups must serve the Long Beach area, have or be working toward nonprofit status and must show need, good management and firm community backing, Shields said.
Application forms for the grants, which start at $100, are available at the PCA office, 300 E. Ocean Blvd.
