Alemany Loses Moses for Summer, Maybe for Good

When Alemany High’s basketball team begins play in the L.A. Games today, James Moses won’t be with the Indians.
Moses, one of the best freshmen in Valley history, will play for Carson High in the Games, his father, James Sr., said Friday.
But the elder Moses said that the decision on where the 6-3 guard will play next year still has not been made.
“Alemany is not out of the picture,” James Sr. said. “We haven’t closed him out at Alemany.”
Said the younger Moses, who lives in Carson: “I don’t think I’ll be back at Alemany.”
The elder Moses said his son had no problems at Alemany this past season. “Our choice is Alemany, let me state that,” James Sr. said.
The problem for Moses is the drive from Carson to Mission Hills, where Alemany is located.
John Carr, an assistant varsity coach at Alemany who lives near Moses, drove James Jr. to school this year.
Carr, however, will be an assistant football coach at Pius X High in Downey in the coming school year.
The senior Moses said that if James attends a public school next year, it might be Carson.
