An attorney who investigated the assassination of Benigno S. Aquino Jr. said that a new eyewitness has offered to support the testimony of a woman who says she saw a soldier shoot the Philippine opposition leader. Bienvenido Tan, deputy counsel to the civilian fact-finding board that investigated the Aug. 21, 1983 killing, said he has seen a letter from the eyewitness and believes it to be authentic. Tan told reporters that the new witness, not named, will support the statements of Rebecca Quijano, who testified earlier that she saw a Philippine soldier shoot Aquino in the back of the head.
