Quarterback Alex Baker, who dislocated a shoulder two weeks ago, returned to the lineup Friday night and passed for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead San Clemente High School to 40-7 South Coast League win over Laguna Hills in Mission Viejo Stadium.
San Clemente (1-3 in league and 2-4-1 overall) took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. The first touchdown came on Bob Moore’s 2-yard run and the second came on a 36-yard pass from Baker to Brad Zell.
After three quarters, the Tritons led, 21-7, and then put the game away with three fourth-quarter scores.
Baker, a 5-foot 10-inch, 170-pound senior, completed 16 of 28 passing attempts as San Clemente scored its first win since an opening-night victory over Savanna.
