San Diego Prep Baseball : Price Hits Slam as Vista Routs Hoover, 20-2

SAN DIEGO — Roger Price hit a grand slam as Vista High School scored 11 runs in the first inning Friday and coasted to a 20-2 win over Hoover in the first round of the Warhawk Tournament at Hoover.
Price also had two singles and pitched the first four innings to earn the victory.
Frank Lomeli went 4 for 5, including a double and two RBIs, and Tony Trousset went 2 for 3 and scored three runs.
In other tournament games:
Bonita Vista 11, Kearny 2--The host Barons scored six times in the first inning. Sophomore Randy Abshier earned the win for the Barons, giving up two runs in 5 innings.
San Dieguito 6, Madison 3--San Dieguito took advantage of six Warhawk errors to win at Madison. Four of the errors came in the third inning and led to four unearned Mustang runs. Steve Griffin hit a bases-empty home run for San Dieguito. Winning pitcher Rick McCarthy yielded six hits.
Point Loma 9, Escondido 7--Point Loma survived a five-run, seventh inning Escondido rally to win at Escondido.
In second-round tournament games today at 11 a.m.: Madison at Kearny, Hoover at Point Loma, Escondido at San Dieguito and Bonita Vista at Vista.
