Two people were arrested early Sunday for allegedly breaking into at least six automobiles at the Wilson Ford dealership in Huntington Beach, police said.
Officers, alerted by a nearby resident to suspicious activity at the car lot in the 18400 block of Beach Boulevard, surrounded the dealership shortly before 1 a.m., then let in the city’s police dog, Barron, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Jack Reinholtz said.
Barron found two men hiding in one of the cars. When one tried to flee, Barron gave chase and grabbed the suspect by a pant leg, Reinholtz said.
Booked on suspicion of auto burglary were Jeffrey Kearney, a 20-year-old transient, and a 17-year-old Buena Park youth. Kearney was being held in the city’s jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. The youth was transferred to Orange County Juvenile Hall in Orange.
Reinholtz said radios taken from six Ford Broncos were recovered at the scene.
