League Sets Awards Dinner

The League of Women Voters of San Diego will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an awards dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. Grant Hotel.
Ten people from different segments of the community will be honored for their contributions to the growth of San Diego.
Those to be honored are the Rev. Pat Backman of St. David’s Episcopal Church; Charles R. Schroeder, San Diego Zoological Society director; Emily Durbin, Sierra Club; Olive Wehbring, community activist; Craig Noel, Old Globe Theatre executive director; Jean Brunkow, director, YMCA Childcare Resource Service; Reese Jarrett, Southeast Economic Development Corp. executive director; Father Joe Carroll, St. Vincent de Paul director; Kitti Johnson, KYXY-FM, and Lionel James of the San Diego Chargers.
The honorary dinner chairwoman will be Billy Riley, director of the Gaslamp Quarter Council, Old Town Chamber of Commerce and San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau.
