SAD TAIL

Despite his soaring star, Mike the dog of “Down and Out in Beverly Hills” has been whapped on the nose (metaphorically) by Oscar organizers.
According to Mike’s trainer, Clint Rowe, the border collie wasn’t asked to be a presenter. (Rowe wasn’t surprised: “Don’t you think the actors would get upset?”) So, Mike will be at home, “watching the awards and cheering for friends.”
Of course, there’s the possibility that Mike will make next year’s show. Several leading critics have even suggested he deserves a nomination. Should he land one, Mike would be the first dog in the history of the academy to be so recognized.
