Newkirk Elected to Top Post by Lumber Assn.

E. L. Newkirk, chairman of the board of Chandler Lumber Co., Van Nuys, has been elected president of the Lumber Assn. of Southern California.
Serving with Newkirk will be Philip Butterfield, International Forest Products, Chino, first vice president; Richard Hawthorne, Northridge Lumber Co., Northridge, second vice president; Martyn Temple, Weyerhaeuser Co., Long Beach, treasurer, and George Swartz, Mar Vista Lumber Co., Los Angeles, secretary.
The 300-member association is made up of wholesale and retail lumber distributors throughout Southern California, and the membership currently handles about 80% of all the lumber moving in the market place.
