The lawsuit asked the federal court in Detroit to order Asher B. Edelman to sell his Fruehauf common stock and to bar him from further purchases. It accused Edelman of manipulating the market for the truck-trailer maker’s stock and filing misleading documents with federal regulators. Fruehauf also sent a letter to its 25,000 shareholders urging them to reject Edelman’s attempt to win control of the company by seating directors friendly to him at the May 1 annual meeting. Edelman said the lawsuit shows that “they must be extremely frightened.”
