Hospital Corp. of America said its first-quarter profit fell 10% from a year ago despite a 27% sales gain. The health-care giant blamed the lower earnings on reduced reimbursements from Medicare. The company said it received $3.8 million from the agency in the latest quarter, compared to $23.8 million in the first quarter of 1985.
