Pope Urges Peaceful Solution to Libya Crisis

VATICAN CITY — Pope John Paul II said Wednesday he felt “anguish and deep” concern over the conflict in the Mediterranean and indirectly called on President Reagan and Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi to seek a peaceful resolution.
The Pope addressed about 20,000 pilgrims who gathered in St. Peter’s Square in cool and cloudy weather for his weekly general audience.
