The mood and the message of “Mrs. Delafield Wants to Marry” were--for me at least--completely destroyed when it came to the farce of the wedding ceremony. True, many ministers and rabbis are not able to perform “mixed” marriages, but in this day and age, there are many examples of much more tactful--and more ecumenical--ceremonies than the insensitive and ludicrous one in the film.
