Savanna High Set to Play at El Segundo as 3-A Baseball Tournament Opens Tonight

Savanna High School, which beat Magnolia, 5-4, Friday night to earn the Orange League’s third playoff berth, will open play in the CIF Southern Section 3-A tournament tonight at 7 against El Segundo at Recreation Park in El Segundo.
El Segundo, champion of the Pioneer League with a 23-5-1 record, is led by shortstop Willy Parsons, who is batting .436 with 5 homers, 11 doubles and 31 RBIs. He also had 19 stolen bases in 10 league games. Outfielder Robert Markle is batting .327 with 7 doubles and 16 RBIs, and catcher Dennis Reed is hitting .316 with 9 doubles and 22 RBIs.
The Rebels (7-12) will open with junior left-hander Robert Lee (4-5), who has won three straight decisions, including a 19-strikeout performance against Anaheim on April 16. Savanna’s top hitters are Glenn Goss and Roy Dimsey.
