Anthony Kling, the Harvard School sophomore swimmer-orator from Bel-Air, had a 1-1 record in competition last Saturday.
Kling, 16, lost in a semifinal event of the Lions Club Student Speaker Contest at Bakersfield, but he made it to East Los Angeles College in time to swim a leg for the winning Harvard 4 x 100 relay team in the CIF-Southern Section 2-A championships.
His mother, Mary, said that the relay team finished in 3:16.09; she drove her son in the family car from Bakersfield to East Los Angeles in 1 hour and 22 minutes.
