Redondo Beach : Utility Tax Rules Changed
- Share via
The City Council voted unanimously this week to include permanent disabilities as a criterion for exemption from the 5% utility users’ tax and raised the maximum allowable income level. The minimum qualifying age, however, was also raised.
A person who is 62 years old or permanently disabled and earns up to $12,000 a year as a single resident or up to $15,000 for as a household will qualify for the exemption when the ordinance takes effect in early November.
Residents are now eligible for the exemption at age 60 and when receiving a maximum of $3,350 a year as an individual or $5,200 as a household.
