Criticism of Israeli Leaders

Your coverage of the Alex Odeh memorial dinner was excellent. My only regret is that no mention was given to Gideon Spiro, the Israeli peace activist who spoke at the press conference and banquet. Is there some unspoken rule that the mainstream press cannot quote an Israeli who criticizes the policies of the Israeli government?
Spiro made a powerful statement when he commented, “Palestinians and Israelis must live together or they will die together,” but no one from the press picked it up.
I’d venture to say that we had 25 to 30 American Jews and Israelis in our audience. One of them was Yigal Arens, son of Moshe Arens, Israel’s minister of defense. Yes, indeed, Yigal Arens is very much opposed to his father’s Iron Fist policy toward Palestinians.
