Amwest’s 3rd-Quarter Results Are Up 83%

Amwest Insurance said its third-quarter net income rose 83% from the same period last year to $544,000, or 30 cents a share. The Woodland Hills company’s earned premiums, a financial measure similar to operating revenue, rose 45%, to $3.9 million.
For the nine months ended Sept. 30, Amwest’s net income rose 75%, to $1.5 million, or 80 cents a share. Earned premiums climbed 32%, to $10.4 million.
Amwest specializes in writing surety bonds for bail bondsmen and contractors, among others.
