Surgeon at Mercy Killed in Accident

A San Diego physician was killed Sunday when his motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on Tierra del Sol Road in Boulevard and he crashed off the side of the road and down an embankment, authorities said.
The San Diego County coroner’s office identified the dead man as Dr. Paul Broadley, 54, an orthopedic surgeon at Mercy Hospital.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the accident.
The mishap occurred at 11 a.m. on Tierra del Sol Road, at a spot 2.7 miles south of California 94 in eastern San Diego County.
Broadley, a resident of Pacific Beach, was at the back of a group of motorcyclists when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off the roadway and down the embankment, his motorcycle overturning, according to the coroner’s account. He was wearing a helmet.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
