About 250 soccer fans invaded the field during a match in Munich, West Germany, injuring 20 policemen in a clash in which both sides used tear gas.
The fans attacked some 50 policemen, spraying tear gas, kicking the officers and beating them with sticks, police said. Police also used tear gas to disperse the fans and arrested seven people.
Fans of Munich 1860 invaded the pitch when their team fell behind Bayreuth, 3-1, with five minutes left in the match.
