Billy Rideout, a 17-year-old football player at Central Islip, N.Y., High School, died of head injuries suffered in a game on Oct. 18.
Rideout was injured in the first quarter of the game between Central Islip and Newfield while he was returning a punt. The senior linebacker-center walked to the sidelines after being tackled, then collapsed while seated on the bench. He never regained consciousness.
