San Diego Section Tennis : Mount Carmel Advances to Semifinals

SAN DIEGO — Mount Carmel’s No. 3 doubles team of Nanci Larkin and Teresa Connors defeated Beth Warner and Megan Warner, 7-5, 6-0, Thursday to give the Sundevils a 4-3 victory over Fallbrook in a quarterfinal match of the San Diego Section 3-A girls’ tennis playoffs.

Mount Carmel (8-13) will meet top-seeded Bonita Vista in a semifinal match today. Torrey Pines and Poway will meet in the other semifinal.

In the girls’ 2-A playoffs, San Pasqual beat University City, 4-3, to advance to today’s semifinals against top-seeded and defending champion La Jolla. With the match tied, 3-3, San Pasqual’s Dawn Evans rallied to beat Nina Meftah, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the victory. La Jolla beat La Jolla Country Day, 7-0. In today’s other 2-A semifinal, Carlsbad will meet Bishop’s.
