The National Football League Players Assn. announced plans for a new affiliation with Child Help, a national organization that works with abused children. Gene Upshaw, head of the association, said that proceeds from the players’ March 27 awards banquet at the Century Plaza Hotel will go to Child Help.
There will be an NFLPA convention in Southern California March 26-29, Upshaw said, to develop strategies for the 1987 negotiations with the club owners. The current player-owner collective bargaining agreement ends next summer.
