Cerritos College Surveys District to Improve Efforts

NORWALK — The first phase of a $10,000 study to determine how Cerritos College can best serve its district is nearly complete, said Janice Dennis-Rounds, school director of research and development.
Objectives of the random survey, which is done every five years, include trying to determine what programs are preferred in the community, making the community aware of college programs and finding out why people are not attending the college.
The data, being gathered by 15 telephone interviewers, will be entered in computers and analyzed, and findings will be released early next year, Dennis-Rounds said.
The interviewers are calling nearly 7,000 homes in the college district, which includes Artesia, Cerritos, Downey, La Mirada, Norwalk and portions of Hawaiian Gardens and Long Beach.
About 1,000 interviews are expected to be used in the analysis.
