A Northridge man was injured early Tuesday when a bomb exploded in his hand while he was standing outside the home of a female acquaintance, police said.
The man, James Holbrook, 21, was listed in good condition in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center with hand and facial injuries, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Tellez said.
Holbrook was arrested outside the woman’s home in the 17800 block of Fullerfarm Street in Northridge shortly before 2 a.m. on suspicion of wrongful possession of a destructive device, authorities said.
Investigators are trying to determine what Holbrook intended to do with the bomb, said Lt. Dan Cooke, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
“They’re still doing some checking on the relationship” between Holbrook and the woman, he said.
Holbrook was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
