Guests arriving at the Children’s League of Fullerton’s Snow Ball last week were treated to the sound of caroling youngsters. The children, members of the Fullerton Repertory, seemed to symbolize the goal of the league--nurturing the social, economic, educational, cultural and civic needs of children living in the Fullerton area.

Among league members greeting guests at the Anaheim Grand Hotel were president Ellen Vandenburgh and ball chairman Terry Brick.

The ball had no other formal program beyond a brief thank-you by Vandenburgh to the event’s committee.

“This is just an evening to enjoy,” member Carol Huggins said.

And enjoy they did, dancing to the music of the Stephen Zinnato band. Guests couldn’t seem to stay seated, dancing even between dinner courses of Caesar salad, filet mignon, chicken a l’orange and an elaborate baked Alaska dessert.

The event raised $12,000. Now in its 34th year, the league helps maintain a 12,000-square-foot Youth Center, a two-building complex housing the Fullerton Community Nursery School, the Volunteer Center of Orange County-North, the Child Guidance Center and the Early Childhood Treatment Program. As the evening drew to a close, Vandenburgh talked about the friendship that exists in the league. “I belong to other groups, but this group has a unique warmth and closeness,” she said.

Others enjoying the evening were Bill Huggins, Donald and Judith Orr, Wayne and Mamie Mertes, Robert Lewis, Joyce Kemps, William Vandenburgh and Patti Davis, event co-chairman.
