FRESNO — San Jose State’s ability to contain Miami of Ohio quarterback Terry Morris could be the determining factor in today’s California Bowl game (ESPN, 2:30 p.m.).
Morris, Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, has set 11 school passing records in just two seasons with the Redskins. The 6-foot 1-inch, 194-pound senior completed 193 of 308 passes for 2,365 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading Miami to an 8-3 record in 1986.
Morris, who has been sacked only 4 times this season, will have to contend with Spartan linebacker Sam Kennedy, who has 9 of his team’s 50 sacks. The Spartans have intercepted 20 passes, with K.C. Clark getting 6 and John King 5.
