Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) met in Amman with King Hussein and said the United States should support Jordan’s effort to aid Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Jordan has proposed a $1-billion, 5-year plan to build housing and assist the economy of the West Bank, which Israel captured from Jordan in 1967. The plan also covers the occupied Gaza Strip, which was captured from Egypt.
