Burn Victim Dies: A Silverado Canyon man who suffered severe burns after being trapped in his home by a fire died Saturday in the burn unit at UC Irvine Medical Center, a coroner’s spokesman said. John Jordan, 41, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 35% of his body in the fire, which occurred about 9 p.m. Wednesday at his two-story home in the 14900 block of Wildcat Canyon Road, fire officials said. It took 35 firefighters 43 minutes to contain the blaze, which caused an estimated $140,000 in damage, according to Dan Southworth, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
