State Dept. No. 2 Man to Visit Soviet Allies

WASHINGTON — Deputy Secretary of State John Whitehead will visit three of the Soviet Union’s closest allies in Eastern Europe beginning this week when he travels to Poland, Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria.
Whitehead, the State Department’s second-ranking official, will leave Tuesday and return Feb. 7.
