The former Milwaukee Ballet and Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Ballet companies have decided to join forces. The merger is designed to widen repertory and cut costs, said Robert Weiss, named as artistic director for the as yet unnamed new company. The combined troupe will share sets, costumes and dancers but will maintain separate boards, training programs, orchestras and marketing operations.
