Reputed organized crime boss Nicodemo (Little Nicky) Scarfo was denied bail by a federal judge in Philadelphia after an admitted mob captain testified that Scarfo was responsible for a host of murders. Chief U.S. District Judge John Fullam said he ordered Scarfo held without bail because if “just one tenth of the allegations” against him were true, the reputed leader of the Philadelphia-South Jersey mob would pose a threat to potential witnesses. Scarfo, 57, is awaiting trial on charges he conspired with Philadelphia City Councilman Leland Beloff to extort $1 million from a city developer.
