A loss in earnings for 1986, compared to a profit the year earlier, was recorded by Wendy’s International of Dublin, Ohio. Results include the after-tax charge of $51.8 million from the realignment program the company undertook in the third quarter. For the fourth quarter, revenue was down 8% from the same period in 1985, as net income took a big drop. A Wendy’s spokesman said the firm was encouraged that fourth-quarter real sales were up slightly, after deleting breakfast sales. This was the first quarter in 1986 that real sales were up.
